This happened when –
I decided to meet this one girl I found on a dating application.
She was White and I was brown.
English was her first language and not mine.
But when I suggested that we go buy takeout for our first date,
She argued that we go to a fancy restaurant instead.
I, being me, didn’t give in and we ordered takeout.
She ate it peevishly and got up to leave the moment –
she finished stuffing herself with dinner!
And called me a “Parsimonious Prick” as she closed the door behind her.
I pulled Oxford dictionary out of the book rack,
Because I was brown, she was white.
